EDM GROUP ESTABLISHED ON FACEBOOK. Social networking sites, such as Facebook, are having a great impact on personal and business behavior. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that there are 2,000 applications on the site regularly attracting more than 100 users and that Bay Partners has raised US$ 300 million for companies developing Facebook applications. Facebook had 30.6 million visitors in July.
Whitaker Associates has decided to experiment with the power of social networks by establishing a European Directory Marketplace (EDM) group on Facebook. Bill Gates forecasts that print directories will be dead in five years and we believe traditional directory assistance will follow the same fate. In place of these legacy services will be new, rich and powerful information services delivering far more than the legacy products ever dreamed. EDM08, scheduled for February 4-5, will explore these these new services.
